1 Scope

This document specifies the designation representation method, ordering content, dimensions, shape, weight, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking and quality certificate of low alloy steel plates with specified low temperature properties for pressure equipment. This document applies to low alloy steel plates (hereinafter referred to as steel plates) with a thickness of 5mm ~ 120mm for pressure equipment with service temperature not lower than -70℃. 09MnNiDR is a nickel alloyed low temperature pressure vessel steel grade, suitable for -70℃ low temperature environment, offering the best low temperature toughness among all DR grades.

3 Terms and Definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 713.1 apply to this document.

4 Designation Representation Method

4.1 Naming by strength: The designation consists of the Chinese phonetic alphabet "Q" representing yield strength, the specified minimum lower yield strength value, and the Chinese phonetic alphabet "DR" representing low temperature pressure vessel. Example: Q420DR.

4.2 Naming by chemical composition: The designation consists of two digits representing average carbon content (in ten-thousandths), alloy element letters, and the Chinese phonetic alphabet "DR" representing low temperature pressure vessel. Example: 09MnNiDR.

5 Ordering Content

The ordering content of steel plates shall comply with GB/T 713.1.

6 Dimensions, Shape, Weight

The dimensions, shape and weight of steel plates shall comply with GB/T 713.1.

7 Technical Requirements

7.1 Designation and Chemical Composition

7.1.1 The designation and chemical composition (ladle analysis) of steel shall comply with Table 1.

Notes:
a When acid-soluble aluminum (Als) is used instead of Alt, the Als content shall not be less than 0.015%; when Nb+V+Ti ≥ 0.015% in the steel, the Al content is not required.
b When the plate thickness is less than 12mm, the lower limit of Mo content is not required. (Applicable to 11MnNiMoDR grade)

7.1.2 The allowable deviation of finished chemical composition shall comply with GB/T 713.1.

7.1.3 The approximate designation comparison between this document and foreign standards is shown in Appendix A.

7.2 Manufacturing Method

The manufacturing method of steel shall comply with GB/T 713.1.

7.3 Delivery Condition

7.3.1 The delivery condition of steel plates shall comply with Table 2. 09MnNiDR steel plates are delivered in normalized or normalized plus tempered condition.

7.3.2 By agreement between the supplier and the buyer, normalized plus tempered plates with thickness greater than 36mm may be delivered by normalizing (accelerated cooling allowed) plus tempering.

7.4 Mechanical and Technological Properties

7.4.1 The mechanical and technological properties of plates shall comply with GB/T 713.1.

7.4.2 The results of tensile test, Charpy (V-notch) impact test and bending test shall comply with Table 2.

c When the yield phenomenon is not obvious, the specified plastic extension strength Rp0.2 may be used instead.

7.4.3 For Q420DR and Q460DR grades, lateral expansion value shall be measured in impact test, and the lateral expansion value shall not be less than 0.53mm. This requirement does not apply to 09MnNiDR.

7.4.4 Upon agreement between the supplier and the buyer and specified in the contract, the low temperature impact absorption energy of steel plates may be delivered at a value higher than that in Table 2, and the specific value shall be specified in the contract.

7.4.5 When the supplier guarantees that bending is qualified, the bending test may be omitted.

7.4.6 Upon buyer's request, for plates with thickness greater than 36mm, an additional set of impact tests taken at 1/2 of the plate thickness may be added. The test temperature and qualified value of impact absorption energy shall be specified in the contract.

7.4.7 Upon buyer's request, drop weight test may be added for plates with thickness greater than 36mm. The test shall be carried out according to GB/T 6803 using P-2 type specimen. The qualified index of nil-ductility transition (NDT) temperature shall be specified in the contract.

7.5 Surface Quality

The surface quality of steel plates shall comply with GB/T 713.1.

7.6 Non-destructive Testing

7.6.1 For Q420DR and Q460DR plates with thickness of 6mm and above, normalized or normalized plus tempered plates with thickness greater than 20mm, and quenched plus tempered plates with thickness greater than 16mm, the supplier shall perform ultrasonic testing on each plate.

7.6.2 For other thickness plates, ultrasonic testing may also be performed on each plate upon agreement between the supplier and the buyer.

7.6.3 Ultrasonic testing shall be carried out according to NB/T 47013.3, and the acceptance level shall not be lower than Level I. If there are special requirements, they shall be specified in the contract.

8 Test Methods

8.1 The chemical composition test of steel is generally carried out according to GB/T 4336, GB/T 20123, GB/T 20125 or general chemical analysis methods. In case of arbitration, it shall be carried out according to GB/T 223.3, GB/T 223.9, GB/T 223.12, GB/T 223.17, GB/T 223.23, GB/T 223.26, GB/T 223.40, GB/T 223.63, GB/T 223.68, GB/T 223.69, GB/T 223.76.

8.2 The test methods for inspection items of each batch of steel plates shall comply with Table 3.

Notes:
a For plates with thickness greater than 40mm, the axis of the impact sample shall be located at 1/4 of the thickness.
b The scope of drop weight test shall comply with 7.4.7.
c The scope of ultrasonic testing shall comply with 7.6.1 and 7.6.2.

9 Inspection Rules

9.1 Inspection and Acceptance The inspection and acceptance of steel plates shall be carried out by the supplier's quality inspection department.

9.2 Batch Formation Rules

9.2.1 Steel plates shall be accepted in batches. Each batch shall consist of plates of the same designation, same heat number, same thickness, and same heat treatment system. The batch weight shall not exceed 30t. Plates with single weight exceeding 30t shall be batched individually.

9.2.2 11MnNiMoDR steel plates shall be subjected to mechanical property test per heat treatment piece.

9.2.3 Upon buyer's request and agreement between the supplier and the buyer, mechanical property inspection may be carried out per heat treatment piece for plates with thickness greater than 16mm.

9.3 Sampling Quantity, Sampling Direction and Sampling Method The sampling quantity, sampling direction and sampling method for each batch of steel plates shall comply with Table 3.

9.4 Re-inspection and Judgment Rules The re-inspection and judgment rules of steel plates shall comply with GB/T 713.1.

9.5 Rounding of Numerical Values The rounding rules shall comply with GB/T 713.1.

10 Packaging, Marking and Quality Certificate

The packaging, marking and quality certificate of steel plates shall comply with GB/T 713.1.
